After almost 3 months of physio and lots of work and a lot of singing (especially "Row, Row, Row Your Boat") I am very excited to announce that we have CRAWLING!!!!
Our physiotherapist had doubts and we had doubts that this would happen. Crawling can be very difficult for kids with hemiplegia and many will go straight to walking. I thought Bennett might do this but something started to click on Thursday night and by Friday night we had our first official crawl. There was lots of cheering and lots of tears on my part. Grandma and Grandpa were here to see it and Mummu and Poppa just missed it.
Life around our house will have to change now. Finally after 17 months of having a baby we actually have to really babyproof. The first step was putting up the gate. Jim wanted me to post a picture just to reassure the grandparents (ps. We also have closet handles).

we were all so excited to see you crawling. I think we all cried and those who were fighting it were crying inside too. What a wonderful sight to see!!! Now grandma and grandpa have to "baby proof" our house too. It seems to me that you are making improvements in leaps and bounds! Every week you learn to do something new at physio or even something that you figured out all on your own. You are a clever little fella.

Yes, we missed him crawling at home on Friday evening but Poppa had him crawl (move) towards the buffet handles on Friday afternoon. Bennett, we did not expect you to move so quickly to actually crawl by Friday evening.
Yes, tears of joy and anticipation are in order.
The Video camera is a great invention - so we can all partake in Bennett's progress. To say that this is a mildstone would be an understatement.

Now we too will have to put up a gate (thank you daddy) because now that Bennett is on the go - watch out world - there will be no stopping him now. Once again 'baby proofing' is in order.

I am so excited for you Bennett. Now you can enjoy your freedom - and your mom, dad, and grandparents can enjoy child-proofing the house. Oh how we have waited for this day. I wish I were there - I'd give you a BIG hug - - so I will have to ask your mom and dad to do that for me.
