Bennett woke up at 4:30 am today. Jim went and picked him up and brought him into bed with us. This is what we usually do when he wakes up in the middle of the night - I know we're probably creating a bad habit but I'm sure he won't be doing it when he's 18. He thought it was party time - rolling around, sitting up - generally causing a ruckus. At one point though he crawled up on my back, leaned into my face and said "Mama". It was clear as a bell and he only said it once. We are not sure if he really meant it or if it was just a fluke. Regardless, at 5 am, despite the fact that I was getting kicked in the back and having my hair pulled, I believed it. And my heart - just for a moment melted - completely. Kind of like the Freezie in Bennett's hand.

Don't kid yourself - Bennett knows 'who is who' - and you are Mama. He has often said (very softly) Mama and Dadda and Baba. Bennett, you are such a tease ... and we love you for it!
However he verbalizes, it is GREAT!
Bennett and Bowser - we will see you in a few hours.
Hope you are up for a great day of 'partying in the valley'!

xxx ooo xxx ooo
Hi Bennett,
grandma and grandpa are in town for a few hours......showers, laundry.......etc (as if you care..lol) I just had a look at the blogs and as always you make me laugh. Sometimes you make me laugh and cry all at once!
Grandma is such a suckie over you and of course so is your grandpa. We last saw you on the weekend, however, it feels more like a month or so. Have you grown very much since then? Have you acquired good table manners yet?
Are you still playing in the toilet? You are at poppa and mummu's today. Are you causing trouble? What a silly question! Of course you are!!! Silly me.
We also love your "your bunny hop" and you sure can travel FAST! When you decide to make a break towards the neighbour's yard, you are almost unstopbable. Your smile and laughter makes me get all mushy inside.
Now that you can say mama how about trying to say daddy or grandma. (to the rest of the family, you are on your own!)
We really hope that you can visit us on the weekend! WE MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!
Lots of love, hugs and kisses

Awww...I'm melting too!
I am quite sure Bennett said"Mama" and meant every word of it! I think we have moments like this so we can get through the "hard times" - like being kicked in the back at 5 a.m. It makes it all worthwhile.
Love to you all,
Auntie Bonnie
Oh... that is the best feeling! I am sure he said it too!
