I Should Be...

on a beach like this...right now...with a drink in one hand and a book in another. However, I'm not. Instead I'm at home in the freezing cold. This morning it was -35 Celsius. That's cold - really cold - the kind of cold that takes your breath away as soon as you step outside. Now, you might think I was just dreaming when I said I should be on a beach - but I'm not - that is really where I SHOULD be. Jim and I had booked a trip quite a while ago to the Dominican Republic. We were to leave January 9th. We were even packed and ready to go on Thursday night. But then at approximately 8pm I started to feel sick and then I was sick - very sick. I'll spare you the gory details but it wasn't pretty and it became evident at around 3am that we weren't going anywhere.

So here I am. I'm finally feeling better and it has only been in the last day or so that I've been able to look at my computer screen for more than a couple minutes without being sick. I haven't been able to update my blog or comment on any others. I should be able to catch up this week as I doubt I'll be spending any time outside frolicking.

I promise a better update soon. In the meantime, I think I'll sit back and dream about that beach....oh and for those of you who enjoy videos take a look at the one below. My boys emptying the dishwasher - if I hadn't caught that on video I would have thought that I was dreaming. I wasn't too impressed with Bennett kneeling IN the dishwasher but I hate to interrupt men at work.

Barbara, you are so lucky to have such good help with the dishes. Bennett certainly does like to pitch in. Who says that 'good help is hard to find?'

With the weather we have been having and will be continue to have we are sure that 'beach time' at anytime will be well worth the wait.

Let's hope that anticipation is not greater than the realization when it comes about with a drink in one hand and a book in the other.

We so do look forward to having our boy for five days. Nothing but fun and games...and as you say, what happens at mummu and poppa's house stays at mummu and poppa's house.

Keep dreaming.

Love and God Bles!

that video is just toooo cute to go! It sure gave us a good giggle. Bennett is always very helpful. He gets tissue for grandma's runny nose, LOTS and LOTS of tissues. I'm not too sure how to interpret that!
We were all sorry that you got sick and couldn't go on the trip. You have rotten timing, that's for sure! We were also looking forward to having Bennett for several days. Mummu and poppa take Bennett the first few days and then we get him the last few days. He is such a pleasure to have around and we look forward to his overnight visits. Oh well,
life happens and not always the way we want it to.
There is nothing we can do about the cold weather, so we might as well snuggle in at home with a drink in one hand and a good book in the other.
Lots of love, hugs and kisses

Okay, I'm outside the family, but Barbara was nice enough to comment on my blog just now, so I came back to express my heartfelt sadness for the cancelled vacation. That's gotta hurt!

Very nice kneeling by Bennett! Just more evidence of your wonderful Hubby.

WOW! Those are some helpful men in your house! I love the kneeling!

I am so sorry to hear about your trip. That really stinks. Are you going to be able to reschedule?

I hope you feel better soon!

Wow! So sorry about the trip. I would be so bummed, but hopefully you can reschedule sometime soon!?!

Love the video!!! Nothing is sexier then a man doing the dishes. I tell my husband that all the time, so he often does the dishes around here too!!! LOL.

That is just too cute Barbara, your mom is always telling me about Bennet's progress when I see her at guild.

My 4 yr old grandson has also been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, but the only physical thing you can really notice is that he wouldn't/couldn't walk flat on his right foot. They have been giving him botox injections and had him in a couple of casts and now a brace for at night. You don't want to know how deadly he could be with that cast, but Nathan had a split lip to show for it.
He was also a little slow talking, but then his older brother was also. Have talked to a lot of people that say their boys were slower talking than there girls. Heaven forbid once they start though.

By the way, might I suggest for the sake of your dishwasher door, that you get a neat little padded stool the same height as the door is when it is open??? I bet you Mom could rig up a nice cover for it if she wants to part with any of her stash. It can also double as a cute little stool for Bennet to sit on.

Patti - welcome to the blog and thank you for commenting! I always like to hear stories about other kids with CP and I'm glad to hear that your grandson is doing so well. Bennett has also been referred for Botox so we'll see what happens with that.
